Medical Telecommunications Equipment Program
The Medical Telecommunications Equipment Program is a grant program under the Universal Service Fund that enables non-profit medical clinics or public health agencies to apply for funding to purchase medical telecommunications equipment (Wis. Admin. Code § PSC 160.115). On a fiscal year basis, up to $500,000 may be available to purchase medical telecommunications equipment that will promote technologically advanced medical services, enhance access to medical care in rural or underserved areas of the state or to underserved populations or to persons with disabilities.
Items to note for this grant program include:
- Applicant must be a nonprofit medical clinic or hospital that is governed by a board of directors, serves federally designated health professional areas, medically underserved areas, or medically underserved populations or is a public health agency.
- Purchase of the telecommunications equipment must promote technologically advanced medical services, enhance access to medical care in rural or undeserved areas of the state, or enhance access to medical care to underserved populations or persons with disabilities in the state.

FY 2020/21 Telemedicine Equipment Grants were awarded on April 30, 2020.

Applications for FY 2020/21 Telemedicine Equipment Grants were due on March 12, 2020.
The Commission may award $500,000 for FY2020 and $500,000 for FY2021 for a total of $1.0 million in grants for the Telemedicine Equipment Grant program. New application materials for FY2020 and FY2021 are available below.
