Coverage Data Collection

Wisconsin Broadband Coverage Data Collection

The Commission accepts submissions of broadband coverage data from Internet Service Providers (ISPs). Coverage data are used to provide:

  • Timely updates to the Wisconsin Broadband Map and other broadband mapping products.
  • A better representation of ISP efforts to provide broadband across Wisconsin.
  • More accurate analyses of internet service to target broadband infrastructure funding statewide.

How To Submit Coverage Data

ISPs should contact the PSC’s Broadband mapping team at PSCBroadbandData@wisconsin.gov if they are interested in sharing coverage data. A member of the mapping team will work with providers to ensure that coverage data are mapped accurately for public use.

Data Collection Timeline

The Commission collects coverage data on an ongoing basis. To have your ISP's coverage included on the Wisconsin Broadband Map with the next update, please submit coverage data by December 1, 2021. Data received by this date should be featured on PSC maps in early 2022. With the need to accurately identify areas in need of Broadband service, we ask providers to provide geospatial data highlighting all areas where they can provide Internet service. As an alternative, June 30, 2021 FCC Form 477 data are acceptable.

Mapping staff will continue to update the Wisconsin Broadband Map when the FCC releases updated Form 477 data. Form 477 data, while not as current or accurate as granular geospatial data, allows the PSC to incorporate coverage data from providers not participating in the voluntary Broadband Coverage Data Collection.
