Wisconsin Office of Sustainability & Clean Energy: The Office of Sustainability and Clean Energy leads the State of Wisconsin in addressing the effects of climate change through programs and policies that support the use of clean energy resources and technology.
Focus on Energy: Focus on Energy empowers the people and businesses of Wisconsin to make smart energy decisions with enduring economic benefits. Since 2001, Wisconsin’s energy efficiency and renewable resource program have stayed true to that mission statement. On behalf of 107 Wisconsin electric and natural gas utilities, Focus on Energy’s information, resources and financial incentives benefit all Wisconsinites by implementing energy efficiency and renewable energy projects that otherwise wouldn’t happen, or in some cases years sooner than scheduled.
US Department of Energy State and Local Solution Center: The State and Local Solution Center provides resources to enable strategic investments in energy efficiency and renewable energy technologies using innovative practices across the United States by a wide range of stakeholders, in partnership with state and local organizations and community-based nonprofits.
Energy on Wisconsin: Energy on Wisconsin, a collaboration between UW-Madison Extension and the Office of Energy Innovation, engages communities, tribes, businesses, and organizations to advance Wisconsin’s transformation to a clean energy economy for the health, prosperity, and resilience of all its people and future generations.
Wisconsin Energy Institute: The Wisconsin Energy Institute (WEI) is working on one of the most critical challenges of our time – the transition toward new, clean energy systems and solutions. WEI is led by scientists and engineers committed to crossing traditional research boundaries in order to make major breakthroughs in the way we source and use energy. The collaborative home of energy research and education at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, WEI fosters projects across disciplines, prepares the energy leaders of today and tomorrow, and enhances public understanding of energy issues.
ICLEI (International Council for Local Environmental Initiatives) Local Governments for Sustainability: ICLEI is the first and largest global network of local governments devoted to solving the world’s most intractable sustainability challenges. Our standards, tools, and programs credibly, transparently, and robustly reduce greenhouse gas emissions, improve lives and livelihoods and protect natural resources in the communities we serve.

National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) SLOPE-State and Local Planning for Energy: The State and Local Planning for Energy (SLOPE) tool aims to improve data-driven state and local energy planning by integrating and resolving planning-relevant data at jurisdictional levels. SLOPE Beta integrates data on energy efficiency and renewable energy opportunities.
US Department of Energy Low-Income Energy Affordability Tool: The Low-income Energy Affordability Data (LEAD) Tool is an online, interactive platform that allows users to build their own national, state, county, city, or census tract profiles. LEAD provides estimated low-income household energy data based on income, energy expenditures, fuel type, and housing type. Users can create and save their own profiles and make side-by-side comparisons with other geographies. Users can also download visuals and data associated with the following geographies, housing, and energy characteristics.
NREL Solar For All Data Explorer: This tool visualizes U.S. rooftop solar technical potential and other dimensions of low-income energy use in the residential sector.
US Department of Energy hub for State, Local, Tribal Governments: This page provides guidance on legislative and policy issues, informing constituencies on energy matters, and also provides agencies with information, tools, and assistance they need to meet and track their energy-related requirements and goals.
ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager free software for benchmarking: ENERGY STAR tools and resources help businesses identify cost-effective approaches to managing energy use in their buildings and plants—enabling the private sector to save energy, increase profits, and strengthen their competitiveness.
EPA calculator for measuring Green House Gas equivalencies: The Greenhouse Gas Equivalencies calculator allows you to convert emissions or energy data to the equivalent amount of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions from using that amount. The calculator helps you translate abstract measurements into concrete terms you can understand, such as the annual emissions from cars, households, or power plants. This calculator may be useful in communicating your greenhouse gas reduction strategy, reduction targets, or other initiatives aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
DOE Energy Justice Tool: The Energy Justice Dashboard (BETA phase) is a pilot data visualization tool that displays DOE-specific investments in communities across the country experiencing disproportionately high and adverse economic, human health, climate-related, environmental, and other cumulative impacts.
Sustainable Wastewater Infrastructure Accelerator: The Sustainable Wastewater of the Future (SWIFt) Accelerator works with water resource recovery facilities to accelerate a pathway toward sustainable infrastructure. DOE is continuing SWIFt's efforts in the wastewater sector focused on energy recovery. As of Fall 2022, DOE is welcoming interested state, regional, and local agency and facility partners.

Sustainable Corrections Accelerator: The Better Buildings Sustainable Corrections Infrastructure Partnership (SCIP) Accelerator is working with partners who will demonstrate solutions leveraging energy and water efficiency, renewable energy, and storage technologies to reduce operating and maintenance costs in public correctional facilities. Bayfield County, Wisconsin is participating in this accelerator.
