​​​​​​​​​​​​​​In Wisc​​onsin, the transportation sector is the state’s largest energy user when comparing economy-wide energy use by sector (WI Energy Statistics Portal). Vehicle electrification is a key solution to reducing petroleum use and decarbonizing the transportation sector.  

The Office of Energy Innovation, the State's Energy Office, develops and provides incentive programs like the Energy Innovation Grant Program (EIGP)​ to advance zero-emission vehicles in Wisconsin (including electric vehicles, or EVs) and supports transportation recommendations in the Clean Energy Plan.

The Public Service Commission conducted an investigation into policies and regulations of EVs and their associated infrastructure in relation to electricity service in Wisconsin. The documents in that investigation can be found in docket  5-EI-156​

Department of Transportation 

Wisconsin has received approval from the U.S. Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) for its plan to expand its EV charging stations under the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) program. The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (DOT) developed the Wisconsin Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (WEVI) plan to guide the use of federal funds and more information is available on the Wisconsin DOT webpages: Wisconsin ​Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (WEVI) program​​
