PSC - Electric Industry Maps

The Public Service Commission of Wisconsin (PSCW) develops and maintains a variety of statewide Geographic Information System (GIS) databases for the electric power industry in Wisconsin. A number of maps have been created from those GIS databases that contain information about Wisconsin's electric system. Maps are updated as new data becomes available.

Small Maps (8.5”x11”)
Color maps showing the electric transmission system are available free of charge upon request. Small versions of the electric utility service territories map can be downloaded by clicking the pdf icons below.

Large Format Maps (28" x 40 ")
Large format maps contain more information than 8.5”x11” or 11”x17” maps and may be purchased from the Commission (see below). The Large format maps include more detail on utility infrastructure, county boundaries and names, municipalities, major highways and state roads, and major water bodies. Larger maps are printed in color on heavy weight coated paper.

Statewide Large Format Maps:

Electric Transmission System:Includes transmission lines (69kV – 345kV) color coded by voltage and type (single-circuit, double-circuit, triple-circuit, underground), transmission substations with names, major power plants (> 9MW) showing generating capacity and symbolized by primary fuel type (Hydro generation is not included).

Electric Utility Service Territories :The map includes territories for major independently owned utilities (IOU), electric cooperatives, and municipal utilities. This map also includes county and township boundaries and names, and major highways.

Wisconsin Power Plants over 9MW:Includes major power plants located in Wisconsin. The map shows each power plant along with its name-plate capacity in Megawatts. Plants are color coded by primary fuel type. (Hydro generation is not included)

(Because of homeland security issues, the distribution of some large format maps may be restricted.)
