Electric Industry Maps

The Public Service Commission of Wisconsin (PSCW) develops and maintains a variety of statewide Geographic Information System (GIS) databases for the electric power industry in Wisconsin. A number of maps have been created from those GIS databases that contain information about Wisconsin's electric system. Maps are updated as new data becomes available.

Small Maps (8.5”x11”)
Color maps showing the electric transmission system (transmission lines, substations, power plants) are available free of charge upon request. Maps showing electric utility service territories can be downloaded by clicking the pdf icon below.

Large Format Maps (28" x 40 ")
Large format maps contain greater detail than 8.5”x11” maps. Additional details include County boundaries and names, municipalities, major highways and state roads, and major water bodies. Larger maps are printed in color on heavy weight coated paper.

(Because of homeland security issues, the distribution of some large format maps may be restricted.)

Available Large Format Maps:

Electric Transmission System: Includes transmission lines (69kV – 345kV) color coded by voltage and type (single circuit, double circuit, underground), transmission owner, transmission substations with names, major power plants (> 10MW) with generating capacity.

Electric Utility Service Territories : Includes territories for major independently 0wned Utilities (IOU), Electric Cooperatives, and municipal utilities, township boundaries and names.

Wisconsin Power Plants over 10MW: Includes major power plants located in Wisconsin, power plant names and name-plate capacity in Megawatts. Plants are color coded by fuel type.

Large format map price is $40.00 per map (this includes shipping and handling).
Custom maps may also be ordered for additional charge.
