Federal Recovery Act - Opportunity for Public Comments for Smart Grid and Related Transmission Projects

Opportunity for Public Comment
DOE has released draft Funding Opportunity Announcements (FOA) for two competitive Smart Grid grant programs under ARRA: Smart Grid Investment Grants (DE-FOA-0000058) and Smart Grid Demonstration Grants (DE-FOA-0000036). These FOAs provide information on what types of projects qualify and how they will be evaluated, what entities are eligible to apply, the anticipated levels of federal funding per project, dates for application submission, and other requirements.

DOE invites prospective applicants to submit comments on the proposed FOAs no later than 5:00 pm EST on May 6, 2009. Questions or comments must be submitted through the FedConnect Web site ( http://www.fedconnect.net). You must register with FedConnect to submit comments on the draft proposal. After considering the comments received, DOE will issue the final Funding Opportunity Announcements, which are currently planned for June 17, 2009. Applicants interested in pursuing funding should be prepared to submit their proposals after this date.
